Phuket Open Water Diver
The Open Water Course – for beginners – could be conducted over 3 days but we can only assess your skills in the water on the 1 st day to see whether you would be able to do the course in 3 days. Otherwise we recommend that you do it over 4 days. Our courses are conducted in small groups with between 1 to 4 students per instructor and the environment is very relaxed – so definitely no school classroom atmosphere. With the water temperatures between 29 to 31 degrees the conditions are ideal to learn scuba diving. Prior to starting the course you would need to complete a STF (Student Record File) supplying us with your personal details and medical history. If there is any medical discrepancy we would take you to our local MD for a check up. The only other prerequisite is that you must be able to swim at least 200 meters or snorkel (mask and fins) 300 meters at your own pace.
Open Water Diver Course (3 to 4 days) – Prices starting from 11 900 Baht.
Course prices include theory classes, Confined Water sessions, 4 Open Water dives, equipment rental, certification fee, PADI course manual, log book and insurance.
Normally a 3 to 4 day program depending on your skills in the water. The course can be done in sections. For example you could do the academics at your local PADI dive centre and once completed you would be issued a referral form for you to continue your diving course in our warm tropical waters. You could also do the PADI E-learning program online with PADI directly and then complete your water work with us.
Alternatively you could do the entire Open Water Diver course with us in a relaxed fashion according to your holiday schedule. This certification allows you to dive anywhere else in the world.

The course is divided into three parts.
- First is the academics: we use a combination of classroom/self-study to limit the amount of time spent sitting in class.
- The second part of the training is the pool skills: learning basic water skills and building confidence in your abilities.
- The third part of the course is the open water instruction and checkout dives: here you put all of the training together Course Outline Phuket Scuba Club, Self-study/classroom setting is fun and relaxing. By using the Self-study method and textbook review, you can learn at your own pace at home. This method limits classroom time and gives more time in the pool to learn the basic skills of scuba.

e-Learning Open Water Course
This PADI course in Phuket provides new divers with the knowledge and training to safely explore our exciting underwater world.
Phuket Scuba Club also offers eLearning, an internet-based academic program that you can complete anywhere you can get an internet connection. Once you have completed the course, we will review the material with you. This is to make sure you have a complete understanding of the course and then we will proceed with the pool sessions. Open Water Diver Pool Skills
The second part of your training, dare I say,” The fun part” is the actual water skills. In the pool, you will learn the basic skills and will practice them until you are able to perform each skill with comfort and confidence. Here you will breathe underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a safe certified diver. During the course, you will make at least five pool dives under the close supervision of Phuket Scuba Club and its crew of Dive Masters.
Prerequisites
Prerequisite to becoming a PADI Open Water Diver is the ability to swim nonstop 200 meters, tread water for 10 minutes, and your desire to explore the underwater world.
Open Water Certification Dives
The third part of your scuba training is the certification dives in open water. You will be demonstrating your abilities and skills through four open water dives conducted over two or more days. We will schedule your Open Water Certification Dives after you have completed your academics and pool sessions. The knowledge will be fresh in your mind and keeps you on your way to being a certified diver.
Getting Started on your Diving Adventure
Learn to Dive
a) Open water dives off Kata Beach (during the high season only) 11 900 baht
b) 2 beach dives and Open Water Dives 3 and 4 off our longtail boat to dive sites only 5 minutes away from the club. Finish at 4:30pm 13 900 baht (during our high season only)
c) Open Water dives off the daytrip boat to Koh Racha Yai. Light breakfast, lunch and refreshments included 14 900 baht inc Free transfers on the daytrip to Kata, Karon and Patong areas only. An extra charge for transfers to outlying areas.
If you do the course over 4 days an extra 1000 baht per person is added.
