Phuket Divng at Racha Yai and Racha Noi

This tropical island lies 90 minutes south of Phuket where the water is calm and clear for diving all year round. These dive sites offer mainly hard corals with an abundance of colourful marine life. Multicoloured parrot fish, yellow tailed snappers and cheeky trigger fish are common residents. With a maximum depth of 18 meters all levels of diver experience can enjoy these easy relaxing drift dives. Non divers can enjoy snorkelling here as well.

Most of the dive sites around the Racha Yai day trip which is located 90 minutes south of Phuket are situated on the east side of the island and contains some compact wrecks as well as a motorbike for those lazy divers who prefer underwater transport.

We dive at these sites mainly between May to November as they are protected and the water is calmer there during this time of the year. During the rest of the year (the high season months) for variation we scuba dive at Bungalow bay.

The visibility is usually excellent and because of this these sites are particularly popular for beginner divers and snorkelers.

Racha Noi – meaning small Racha is located a further ½ an hour by daytrip boat from its sister island Racha Yai (big Racha). These sites also offer clear water and there is a good chance of buddying up with the odd Manta Ray amongst other marine life like lionfish, ribbon eels, scorpionfish, cuttlefish etc. The shallower sites on the west side of the island are also good for beginner divers and snorkellers.

However the South Tip of Racha Noi is suitable for experienced divers only. This site can have extremely strong currents from the submerged pinnacle at 9 meters depth which drops down to around 40 meters. This dive site  consists mainly of boulder type formations with a few corals and sea fans.
