Koh Doc Mai meaning Flower island in Thai is located about 40 minutes east of Phuket. It is a small limestone island with between 24 to 28 meters depth.
The west side of the island is shallower than the east side going to max 18 meters depth and consists of hard corals mainly. One of the main attractions to this side of the island are 2 caves. The one cave is very small and not easy to penetrate……so this area is for experiences cave/cavern divers.
These wall dives have plenty of interesting marine life and it is not uncommon to see seahorses. Other smaller marine creatures like nudibranchs, ornate ghost pipefish etc can be spotted along the crevices of the wall. This dive site is ideal for macro photography. Sometimes bigger pelagics like leopard sharks can be seen at the bottom of the wall.
These sites can also have strong currents and visibility can be bad on certain days.
